Spring Style Edit x Aerial

Trying to transition effortlessly from winter to spring is always a little big of a struggle, especially in the Midwest when temperatures can transition from 20-30 degrees, any given 24-hour time period.  As temps continue to deviate, holding on to a few winter staples and then adding pops of color and spring style is the best way to survive the transition (and brighten your mood on the dullest of days).  Check out some of my favorite looks below; all items mentioned in BOLD are resale from the shop!

White jeans are a spring staple this year, and this legging jean from The Gap is perfect for keeping legs covered, yet brighter.  Add a long-sleeved blouse with bright color (this Cynthia Rowley is long-sleeved plus has the draped neck so that it can be worn off-the-shoulder when desired), and you're staying warm while looking cool.  Add sandals on warmer days (love these nude options from Gianni Bini), or booties when it's a little colder.

Layers are almost always the answer when it comes to varying temps.  I live in these high-waisted Levi's 501s, and nude flats from Target.  This cream colored sweater from J. Crew is a staple neutral for all seasons.  Switch things up by adding metallics and bling, like this fantastic light jacket from Chelsea and Violet, and my super sparkly statement necklace from Stella & Dot.

You cannot, cannot, CANNOT go wrong with a fabulous jean jacket for both the fall and the spring. This vintage Lee Jeans jacket is perfect for layering over turtlenecks, or sun dresses (I'm in love with this tie-dyed beauty from Yank).  Winter booties can stay out to play a little while longer to complete the look, and these slouchy suedes from INC are also crazy comfortable.

Denim skirts are absolutely making a comeback, and this spring season especially you're going to want a denim pencil skirt.  This striped number from Not Your Daughter's Jeans can be dressed up or down, and transition right into summer.  Top with this cozy white sweater from Copper Key, and then add a little bit of color with these coral sandals from Antonio Melani (or again... balance with booties when its colder).  I also cannot love this small cross body from Radley London more for both work and play.  I  also added a bit more color and life to this outfit with fun statement earrings from BaubleBar.

Run, don't walk, and get yourself a pair of colored chinos for the Spring.  Just like the white denim from above, its a great way to cover your legs when its cold, but still add brightness to your look.  My rose-colored ones from Old Navy transition from professional meetings in heels to running errands in sneakers, effortlessly.  This lace blouse from Elie Tahari keeps things bright and romantic, and my statement earrings from Ettika are just super fun.  Round out the look and add some contrast when its a little colder with this leopard-print vest from Baxis and Baxis Los Angeles, and some nude pumps (these are BCBGeneration and my favorites!)

A bright Spring dress and denim like from above are a typical go-to for transitioning, but consider an oversized cardigan for a more professional Spring look.  I am OBSESSED with this vintage navy blazer/cardigan from St. John's (hello oversized gold buttons) and could not be more comfortable in this shift dress from Yoana Baraschi.  I added these Brungate metallic flats (because they're so fun, and also hella comfortable), but staple nude pumps or flats would also complete this look well.

This is me, in my most relaxed and comfortable.  Because I am ALWAYS COLD, then oversized sweaters and high-waisted jeans are my typical weekend uniform from fall through spring, honestly.  I 'springify' the look by choosing sweaters with bright or light colors (love, love, love the neckline of this one from New York & Company), and then switched out boots for these mules from Target's new brand, Universal Thread.  Throw on some big earrings (are you sensing a theme here with my style?), and I'm out the door.
